Park Duty Officer's Duties & Responsibilities
DETERMINE IF FIELDS ARE PLAYABLE. IF NOT, UPDATE HOT LINE AND THE SPSA WEB SITE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
OPENING FOR PRACTICES & GAMES
(Weekdays By 5pm…weekends By 830am)
- Unlock all four (4) of the restrooms.
- Unlock the equipment room for phone and mailbox access (old concession building). Leave inner gate chained.
- Unlock Field 2 equipment room under scoreboard stand.
- Turn on field lights as needed with key (timers will kick on lights at 530pm).
- Make sure chain is up on drive through gate & enforce no parking areas (handicapped/disabled excepted).
GAME DAYS ONLY
- Turn on scoreboards & install control boxes, if not already done.
- The power for the scoreboards on all fields is a light switch under a weatherproof cover on the green power boxes next to each field.
- Fields 1 & 4 control boxes are stored in the concession building. Fields 2 & 3 control boxes are stored in the equipment room above the wooden mailboxes.
- Follow the instructions in order on the boxes. If the scoreboard doesn't light up, give it a minute to reset & try pushing buttons on the control box. If the scoreboard still doesn't light up or doesn't operate, unplug everything, push the reset button on the electrical outlet where the control box plugs in & start again.
CLOSING (Weekdays & Weekends after last game/practice)
- Remind & ensure coaches/managers pull bases, magnetic base anchors & install base plugs after last game/practice.
- Turn off all scoreboards & field light key switches…even if lights already off.
- Put away all control boxes & helmets in proper areas.
- Lock Field 2 equipment room, main equipment rooms & garage doors.
- Turn off all restroom lights & lock.
- Make sure concession electrical breakers in RED are open (off).
- Turn off concession building lights & lock.
CONFLICTS
- Resolve conflicts as best as you know how.
- Keep copies of SPSA Rules of Play & the ASA Official Rules of Softball handy.
