It can get pretty technical pretty fast, but the main thing to strive for is a rotational swing as opposed to linear swing.

Linear has been taught in fastpitch for several years now as a way for players to simply to make contact. But rotational gets the bat on the ball and puts more power into it.

Most local instructors still teach it. But there is new information out that indicates that the better fastpitch hitters use the rotational method.
