Just wondering if anyone has dealt with a catchers hand going cold and numb. My daughter catches and lately she has noticed her catching hand is cold and somewhat white after a game, ends of a few of her fingers a bit numb. I imagine that this is due to the pounding it gets and swelling that occurs. She has a new (this spring) Nakona glove and also wears a padded catchers hand glove inside of that.
Suggestions to prevent this? |

Sounds like RSD-Reflex Sympathic Dystrophy. Both my daughters had it while playing softball, both due to impact injuries. Pinnacle Sports Medicine diagnosed it. Heat/ice and exercise the affected areas regularly.
It's sort of a nerve disorder, discribed to me as confused nerves due to stress. No permanent damage was done and the exercise/home therapies relieved the discomfort. Problems completely cleared up within a few months and no reoccurance. |
